Georgia Tech researchers have created a pacifier designed to monitor a baby's electrolyte levels in real time. This innovation aims to reduce the need for repeated invasive blood draws in neonatal intensive care units (NICU).

The pacifier is equipped with sensors that provide continuous monitoring, offering a less intrusive method of tracking vital signs. The development could lead to improved care for infants requiring close medical attention.

"By using this pacifier, we hope to minimize the stress and discomfort associated with frequent blood sampling," stated one of the researchers involved in the project.

The device represents a significant advancement in neonatal care technology, providing healthcare professionals with critical data while ensuring comfort for young patients.
