Atlanta United is set to face Charlotte FC without its three most experienced fullbacks. Ronald Hernández, Pedro Amador, and Brooks Lennon are absent for the match, prompting head coach Ronny Deila to adjust his lineup creatively for his first away game in charge.

Luis Abram will make his second consecutive start of the season alongside Stian Gregersen and Derrick Williams, who will pair up for their first match together this year. Atlanta United's defense faces a challenge against Charlotte's forward Patrick Agyemang and winger Wilfried Zaha, making his club debut.

On offense, Atlanta United aims to replicate the success from their home opener. The attacking trio of Latte Lath, Saba Lobjanidze, and Miguel Almirón starts again after contributing four goals in their 3-2 victory over CF Montréal.

Deila emphasizes strong defense and maintaining possession as key strategies on the road. “You need to defend and you need to suffer together and do that well," Deila stated. "We cannot concede so many chances that we did on Saturday [against CF Montréal].”

The starting XI includes Brad Guzan (C), Matt Edwards, Stian Gregersen, Derrick Williams, Luis Abram, Bartosz Slisz, Jay Fortune, Miguel Almirón, Saba Lobjanidze, Alexey Miranchuk, and Emmanuel Latte Lath. Reserves feature Josh Cohen among others.

Jay Fortune makes his season debut near his hometown of Raleigh. Mateusz Klich is out due to illness. Edwin Mosquera received recognition for his goal last weekend with the league's first AT&T Goal of the Matchday.

Miguel Almirón assisted Mosquera’s goal marking his 50th MLS regular-season contribution and is two goals away from becoming second all-time scorer for Atlanta United. This game marks Ronny Deila's first away match as head coach of Atlanta United.
