The Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce have expressed their opposition to Senate Bill 36, known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). In a joint statement, both organizations emphasized their commitment to maintaining Georgia's reputation as a leading state for business. They support policies that promote economic growth and job creation while opposing measures that could harm the state's business environment.

The chambers highlighted the importance of focusing on issues such as civil justice reform, infrastructure, and workforce development. These areas are seen as vital for advancing the state and enhancing the quality of life for all Georgians, including employees of member companies and visitors to Georgia.

They stressed that for Georgia businesses to attract top talent, it is essential to have diverse and welcoming workplaces and communities. The chambers noted that Georgia has long benefited from a positive relationship between the business community and elected leaders, which has helped establish the state as a hub for global commerce.

Marshall Guest, Senior Vice President of Public Policy & Communications at the Metro Atlanta Chamber, along with Nancy Palmer, Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, stated their continued opposition to efforts like SB 36 that they believe would undermine Georgia's strong reputation.
