Materials scientist Antonio Facchetti has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), joining a prestigious group recognized for their contributions to the engineering field. The NAE announced his election on February 11, as part of its 2025 class which includes 127 U.S. members and 22 international members.

The NAE is one of the highest professional honors for engineers, with only about 2,800 professionals worldwide having received this recognition. New members are nominated and voted on by existing NAE members. Facchetti becomes Georgia Tech's 49th member in this esteemed group.

Facchetti expressed his surprise and gratitude upon receiving the news: “I was quite shocked and honored when I received the news. NAE includes some of the greatest minds in the engineering field, and to be named among them is truly humbling.” He added that he is inspired to continue his work in unconventional electronic materials.
