Atlanta United is back home in Atlanta after a preseason training camp in Bradenton, Florida. The club is preparing for its home opener against CF Montréal on February 22. During the training session at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, head coach Ronny Deila and players Xande Silva and Stian Gregersen spoke to the media.

Deila emphasized the benefits of the Florida trip beyond escaping Georgia's weather. "Playing at the level of competition that they expect to see in the regular season is one," he said. The team faced Orlando City, New England Revolution, and FC Cincinnati without losing to any MLS opposition this preseason.

The coach also stressed "togetherness" as a key element of their preparation. He explained how team bonding activities were important for both players and coaching staff. “To see each other in other settings, it’s important,” Deila stated.

Xande Silva echoed these sentiments: “The bond, the team, togetherness. The best teams in the world, outside the pitch they do things together.”

Stian Gregersen noted that their preseason involved rigorous physical conditioning. “It’s a new type of preseason,” he said, highlighting a European style with long sessions focused on performance.

However, not all players are fully fit yet. Emmanuel Latte Lath is waiting to be cleared for play after obtaining his visa. "I hope he can be a part of the game on Saturday," Deila mentioned regarding an upcoming friendly match.

Miguel Almirón has already made an impact by playing and scoring despite being signed late in January. Deila praised him for his quality and leadership: "He works hard... You get everything with Miguel."

Injuries have affected some positions like fullback where younger players have stepped up during preseason matches due to absences from usual starters Pedro Amador and Brooks Lennon.

Gregersen remains optimistic about their prospects this season: “I feel better... More fit now than we were last season.”

Atlanta United will conclude its preseason with a match against FC Dallas on February 15 before facing CF Montréal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 22.
