Alfred Gudeman born on August 26, 1862 in Atlanta

Alfred Gudeman was born on August 26, 1862. He was an American-German classical scholar known for his work in classical philology. Gudeman contributed to the study of Latin literature and was a prominent figure in the field of classical studies. He taught at various universities, including the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Jena in Germany. Despite his international career, Gudeman had a significant connection to Atlanta, GA, where he spent part of his life. His scholarly achievements include critical editions of classical texts and numerous articles. Gudeman's work influenced the study of classical literature and philology. He passed away on September 9, 1942, leaving behind a legacy in classical scholarship.
