Atlanta United has officially signed 17-year-old Dominik Chong Qui to a Homegrown contract. The agreement extends through the end of the 2028 MLS season, with an option for an additional year in 2029. Chong Qui, a native of Alpharetta, Georgia, has quickly risen through the ranks, having spent time playing alongside top talent in Major League Soccer.

Earlier this year, Chong Qui signed a contract with Atlanta United 2, just weeks shy of his 17th birthday. During the 2024 season, he made a total of 17 appearances, starting in 12 matches for the team. He debuted professionally on June 26 against Orlando City B.

Chong Qui's acceleration into professional soccer has been notable. He joined the Atlanta United Academy in 2022 and was a part of the U-16 squad that clinched the 2023 MLS Next Cup Championship. His journey illustrates a swift progression, from making his professional debut to securing a first-team contract in under a year. Although initially set to become a Homegrown player on January 1, 2026, his contract was expedited.

Chong Qui recently became Atlanta United's second youngest starter in an MLS match on March 29, stepping in for Pedro Amador at left back at the age of 17 years and 90 days. Only George Bello holds the record for starting at a younger age for the team.

Head coach Ronny Deila expressed his confidence in Chong Qui's abilities. "I really believe in him," Deila commented following Chong Qui's debut. "We have a player for the future, and not only for the future, he can do something now ... He just needs to keep training and pushing, because he has something special."

Atlanta United's current roster includes a mix of talent across all positions, comprising three goalkeepers, ten defenders, ten midfielders, and six forwards, as of April 4, 2025.
