Success for the Georgia Tech Athletic Department extends beyond campus and graduation with a purpose toward building champions in life.
Tech has unveiled its Everyday Champion Blueprint, a three-pillared approach to achieving excellence in all facets of life. The pillars are based on characteristics considered unique to the university, including winning, The Institute and a total person program.
“Championships are not inherited. Scholars are not created overnight. When you are a Ramblin’ Wreck, there are no limits to what you can achieve. At Georgia Tech we are not just building a better student athlete, we are building every day champions,” the website states.

Georgia Tech hosts 20 men’s and women’s teams competing at the NCAA Division I level. As members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the program’s focus is to compete at the highest levels for conference and national championships.
The second pillar, The Institute, focuses on excelling in one of the most rigorous and demanding academic institutions in the world. Georgia Tech has an established reputation for academic excellence that extends far beyond the conference’s footprint.
The third pillar is the Total Person Program which entails pursuing Dr. Homer Rice’s model for excellence and personal well-being in all aspects of life.
Rice formerly served as Georgia Tech's athletic director, creating a model based on the belief that excellence is a result of a balanced life encompassing academic excellence, athletic achievement and personal well-being.
Priorities of the program include providing student-athletes with everything they need to be successful in their sports while providing development as a total person in both academics and life. Tech also strives to be bold in telling the stories of its student-athlete successes. Among those recently highlighted are former NFL player and Georgia Tech Hall of Famer Derrick Morgan who has become a successful entrepreneur. Andy Ogletree is also noted for earning a place in Georgia Tech lore with a U.S. Amateur win in golf.
The Georgia Tech website says the university seeks to engage constituents and immerse them into the culture and improve the school’s financial stability as it keeps up with the ebb and flow of the NCAA.
