Governor Brian P. Kemp signed Senate Bill 68 and Senate Bill 69 into law, marking a significant change in Georgia's legal landscape. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce expressed gratitude, highlighting Governor Kemp's leadership throughout the process. Chris Clark, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber, emphasized that the reform aims to protect Georgia's families, businesses, and economic competitiveness.

Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and Speaker of the House Jon Burns, along with legislative sponsor Senator John F. Kennedy, played pivotal roles in the passage of these bills. Governor Kemp acknowledged the collective efforts involved, stating, "Today is a victory for the people of our state who for too long were suffering the impacts of an out-of-balance legal environment."

The reform has drawn varied support, with officials asserting it will stabilize costs and improve the fairness of Georgia's legal system. Lieutenant Governor Jones remarked, "These are pro-Georgia bills." Speaker Burns called it a significant day for Georgia, noting the relief it brings to citizens facing high insurance premiums.

Several industry representatives also voiced approval. The Georgia Hospital Association, Georgia Transportation Alliance, and the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia lauded the bills as measures that enhance transparency and protect the state's economic interests. Seth Millican of the Georgia Motor Trucking Association welcomed the potential positive effects on the trucking industry, and Hunter Loggins from the National Federation of Independent Businesses noted the benefits for Georgia's small businesses.

The passage of these bills is viewed as a culmination of two decades of advocacy effort led by the Georgia Chamber, aiming to restore balance to the civil justice system and prioritize justice over financial gain.
