Today, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce hosted a press call to discuss their latest report offering guidance for Georgia businesses on mitigating uncertainty with global supply chains. The report aims to assist businesses and communities in planning for tariffs and other barriers to global free trade. A recording of the press call is available online.

Chris Clark, President & CEO of the Georgia Chamber, addressed the media and emphasized the chamber's commitment to providing reliable information about tariff policy. "Our members are doing the same in real-time," Clark stated, noting the challenges faced by businesses in dealing with evolving trade regulations.

Two reports have been published by the Georgia Chamber to help businesses understand the new global trade regulatory environment. The United States and China have been involved in a trade conflict, leading to reciprocal tariffs: the U.S. imposed a 145% tariff on Chinese products, and China responded with a 125% tariff on U.S. goods.

The chamber's recent report provides specific steps for businesses to mitigate supply chain uncertainties, focusing on sectors like manufacturing, retail, agribusiness, technology, logistics, and distribution. Recommended strategies for businesses include utilizing Foreign Trade Zones, optimizing distribution through Georgia’s ports, implementing AI technologies, stockpiling orders, securing capital, and exploring new suppliers and markets.

Additionally, the Georgia Chamber urges businesses to remain engaged with discussions on trade policies and to communicate with Georgia's Congressional Delegation. Clark advised businesses to focus on long-term goals and not get distracted by daily news cycles. "Stay calm," he advised, emphasizing the importance of strategic planning amidst ongoing trade policy shifts.

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1911, continues to advocate for free trade and economic prosperity in Georgia. The chamber represents numerous members statewide and recently launched the Georgia|2050 strategic plan to ensure sustained economic opportunity.
