Miguel Almirón's return to Atlanta United made headlines once again as he contributed significantly to the team's game against FC Dallas on April 5. Almirón scored his second goal of the season, making history in the process by notching his 23rd career goal in regular MLS season play, a feat that ties him with Thiago Almada for the second-most goals in club history. Only Josef Martínez stands atop the leaderboard with 98 goals.

The goal came at a critical moment in the 17th minute when Atlanta United's Emmanuel Latte Lath was fouled inside the box by FC Dallas defender Osaze Urhoghide, leading to a penalty kick. Almirón confidently stepped forward to take the kick, successfully placing the ball past Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes.

"The PK was the first given to Atlanta United this season, so we didn't know for sure who might take it for the 5-Stripes: Saba Lobjanidze, Xande Silva, the leading goal scorer on the season and the player who drew the penalty, Latte Lath," but it was Almirón who took the decisive spot kick.

After scoring, Almirón celebrated with Atlanta fans at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium who were energetic in their support of the midfielder. This goal, however, was the only one for Atlanta in the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Looking ahead, Almirón will have the opportunity to single-handedly claim the No. 2 spot for overall goals in the club's MLS regular season history. Atlanta United will face off against the New England Revolution on April 12 to conclude a three-match homestand.
