The Georgia Chamber of Commerce has announced that Douglas will be the first stop for the Georgia|2050 tour, scheduled to take place on April 1 at the Martin Centre. This event marks the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at discussing and implementing Georgia|2050, a strategic plan intended to maintain economic opportunities in Georgia through 2050.
The tour is part of a broader initiative built around five key areas: Talent and Workforce Preparedness, Infrastructure and Energy, Competitiveness and Economic Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Regional Prosperity and Healthy Communities. The Georgia Chamber plans to align its events, programs, policies, research, and advocacy with these pillars over the next five years.
Additional confirmed locations for the tour include Dahlonega on May 28, Statesboro on June 3, and West Point on June 12. More host communities are expected to be added later.
Ed Elkins from Norfolk Southern and Chair of the Georgia Chamber for 2025 stated: "Georgia has a strong business climate in part because of the integration of the statewide business community, economic development authorities, and elected officials. With Georgia|2050, the Georgia Chamber will build on that success."
Chris Clark, President & CEO of the Georgia Chamber commented: "Thanks to the visionary leadership of our 2024 Chair Pedro Cherry and 2025 Chair Ed Elkins, the Georgia Chamber proudly launched Georgia|2050—a bold strategic initiative designed to shape the future of our state."
The Georgia Chamber was founded in 1911 and incorporated in 1915. It stands as Georgia's largest business advocacy organization with offices across Atlanta, Brunswick, and Tifton. The launch of Georgia|2050 represents their commitment to securing long-term economic prosperity for all Georgians.
