The Metro Atlanta Chamber has introduced a new workforce initiative called Connect to Work GA, powered by Skills for America’s Future. Launched in February, the program aims to strengthen the talent pipeline in the region by connecting skilled job seekers with employers. It is one of three initiatives announced last year with backing from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.
Connect to Work GA is initially focused on metro Atlanta but intends to serve as a model for statewide implementation in Georgia. The program emphasizes economic mobility and inclusive workforce development.
Unlike other programs, Connect to Work GA does not function as an employer but acts as a connector through a last-mile hiring model. This approach directly links pre-qualified candidates with employers based on their skills, addressing critical hiring shortages. The program plans to place about 150 individuals annually into entry-level roles ranging from warehousing to cybersecurity.
Brittany Jenkins-Morrow, Program Director of Connect to Work GA, stated: “We are simplifying the hiring process for both job seekers and employers.” She added that their goal is "to help remove visibility barriers and connect businesses with a ready-to-work talent pipeline.”
To prepare job seekers for these positions, Connect to Work GA collaborates with community organizations such as Westside Works, offering resume support, interview coaching, and job readiness training. Angelia O’Neal, Talent Acquisition Coordinator for the program said: “We are not just filling jobs. We are creating meaningful career opportunities while helping businesses build a stronger workforce.”
As the economy continues to evolve, programs like Connect to Work GA play a crucial role in developing a robust talent pipeline by prioritizing skill-based hiring and upskilling. The initiative plans further expansion over the coming months to increase hiring opportunities in the region.
Businesses and organizations can learn more or participate by visiting connecttoworkga.org where interested parties can submit an intake form for placement consideration.
