Atlanta United is set to face CF Montréal in their home opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Miguel Almirón, a key player from the team's original roster and 2018 MLS Cup-winning squad, returns to the starting lineup after six seasons in the English Premier League. Fans are eagerly anticipating his reappearance on the field wearing Atlanta's 5-Stripes.

Joining Almirón is Emmanuel Latte Lath, a new designated player for Atlanta United. The center forward expressed his eagerness to play when he first visited the stadium earlier this month and will now have his opportunity from kickoff.

The defensive lineup includes Matt Edwards and Ronald Hernández as fullbacks. This marks Edwards' first Major League Soccer start shortly after his 22nd birthday.

The complete starting XI for Atlanta United features Brad Guzan as captain, along with Ronald Hernández, Luis Abram, Stian Gregersen, Matt Edwards, Mateusz Klich, Bartosz Slisz, Saba Lobjanidze, Alexey Miranchuk, Miguel Almirón, and Emmanuel Latte Lath. Reserves include Josh Cohen, Dominik Chong Qui, Noah Cobb, Jay Fortune, Edwin Mosquera, Tristan Muyumba, Xande Silva, Jamal Thiaré and Derrick Williams.

Head coach Ronny Deila debuts for Atlanta United today. Previously coaching New York City FC to an MLS Cup win in 2021 marks his return to Major League Soccer.

Brad Guzan makes history by reaching his 200th regular season appearance—no other player has achieved this milestone with Atlanta United.

Almirón seeks to add another goal contribution to reach a total of 50 in his MLS career and aims to become second in club scoring history by netting two more goals.

Historically against CF Montréal, Atlanta holds a record of seven wins against five losses and four draws. The teams last clashed during the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Wild Card game where Atlanta emerged victorious after a penalty shootout.
