Edwin Mosquera's impressive goal has been recognized as the AT&T Goal of the Matchday for the opening week of the 2025 season. The moment occurred at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where Mosquera's curling right-footed shot secured Atlanta United's victory over CF Montréal in the 85th minute.

Mosquera expressed his excitement about starting the season with such a remarkable goal, stating, “I think this type of goal gave me motivation, and I’ve never started the season making a goal." He added that it was his first time scoring in the tournament and emphasized taking advantage of what he anticipates to be a great season.

The match saw Atlanta United score twice only to be equaled by Montréal each time. However, Mosquera's decisive strike changed the game's momentum. His contribution came shortly after entering as a substitute, requiring just four touches to control Miguel Almirón's pass and execute his memorable shot.

Almirón acknowledged Mosquera's effort by suggesting that his own pass should not count as an assist due to Mosquera’s significant work once he received the ball. This level of performance from a substitute highlights the importance of squad depth for Atlanta United as they navigate through their season.

Reflecting on the team's adaptation to their coach’s system, Mosquera said, “I think that it went very well for us. We picked up what the coach wanted us to do, and we’ve adapted to the system that he wants. I think we’ll be adapting the best way possible for this season.”
