Governor Brian P. Kemp announced plans to lead a mission to Europe, focusing on strengthening economic and cultural ties with Germany and Poland. The initiative aims to develop new relationships that could benefit Georgians.

"Over the last six years, international companies have invested over $38 billion in Georgia, creating more than 58,000 new opportunities for Georgians in every corner of the state, with communities outside of metro Atlanta attracting over 80% of those jobs," said Governor Brian Kemp. He highlighted the significance of Georgia's partnership with Germany as a major trade partner and contributor to job creation and investment. "As we prepare to return money to Georgia taxpayers and invest in key areas like public safety and education, this mission is an opportunity to reinforce that collaboration while also opening dialogues with an emerging market, ensuring a brighter future for all Georgians."

The Governor will be joined by representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) during meetings with firms already operating or under construction in Georgia. Diplomatic engagements are also planned. German companies such as BASF, Gerresheimer, Carcoustics, KIRCHHOFF Automotive, and GEDIA Automotive Group are included in the itinerary.

“German companies excel in industries like life sciences and automotive manufacturing, and Georgia serves as a strategic gateway for them and other European businesses entering the U.S. market,” stated GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. He noted that German automotive firms have added approximately 2,200 jobs and $830 million in investments to Georgia over two decades. The expansion into emerging markets like Poland is seen as crucial for keeping pace with global trends.

Since 1973, Georgia has maintained representation in Europe. In 2023 alone, trade between Germany and Georgia reached more than $12.8 billion. German investments since 2010 have surpassed $3.9 billion through state-involved projects.

The itinerary includes visits to BASF's facilities across Attapulgus, Edgar, and Savannah; Gerresheimer's production facility established in Peachtree City; Carcoustics' research center set up in Buford; KIRCHHOFF Automotive's assembly facility opened recently in Lawrenceville; and GEDIA Automotive Group’s advanced manufacturing plant focused on electric vehicle parts near Dalton.
