Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Duracell will establish its new Global Headquarters for Research and Development at Science Square in Atlanta, Georgia. This development is expected to create 110 jobs and involve an investment of approximately $56 million. Duracell already operates a manufacturing facility in LaGrange, Georgia, since 1980, and a logistics and distribution plant in Fairburn, Georgia, since 2020.

Governor Kemp expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating: "Georgia has set itself apart as a leader in attracting innovative companies with our research institutions, world-class logistics network, and pro-business environment." He thanked local and state partners for their efforts in bringing new opportunities to the state.

Duracell's Chief Technology Officer Dr. Liben Hailu commented on the relocation: “We’re excited about the opportunities the move to Atlanta will bring and we’re confident this new chapter will strengthen our position as a global leader in the industry.”

The new headquarters will be situated at 101 Nerem Street NW in Atlanta, near Georgia Tech’s Midtown campus. Science Square is an 18-acre development focused on innovation with over 1.8 million square feet of lab and office space.

Mayor Andre Dickens highlighted Atlanta's strengths: “Atlanta’s transportation infrastructure, diverse talent pool from top-tier universities and a thriving tech ecosystem make the city an ideal environment for corporate innovation and growth.” He also appreciated Duracell's confidence in Atlanta through their investment.

Katie Kirkpatrick from the Metro Atlanta Chamber noted that Duracell's decision enhances the region's reputation as an innovation hub: "Duracell strengthens our region’s powerful reputation as a hub for innovation."

Robb Pitts from Fulton County Board of Commissioners emphasized Fulton County's leadership role: “Duracell’s choice to set up its Global R&D Headquarters in Fulton County solidifies Fulton’s leadership in innovation.”

John Soper represented Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team on this project along with several partners including Invest Atlanta and Select Fulton.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson remarked on Duracell's long-term commitment to Georgia: “Locating the new Global Headquarters for Research and Development in Atlanta makes it clear that Duracell sees the State of Georgia as a long-term partner.”

Duracell was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 2016 and has become a leading brand in North America's primary battery market.
