The Atlanta Falcons concluded their 2024 season with an 8-9 record, leaving fans and management alike disappointed. Despite a one-win improvement over the previous three seasons, expectations were higher for the team.

General Manager Terry Fontenot acknowledged the hard work put in by players, coaches, and staff but admitted that the results were unsatisfactory. "A lot of people put a lot of work into this," Fontenot stated. "When this is what the result is nobody is happy about that."

As they enter the offseason, Fontenot and Head Coach Raheem Morris are focused on evaluating all aspects of their process. This marks their first offseason working together since Morris was hired as head coach in January 2024. "We'll be together in this process," Morris emphasized. "Everything that we're going to do, we're going to do together."

The team's quarterback situation was a significant focus during the 2024 offseason. The Falcons signed Kirk Cousins as a free agent and drafted Michael Penix Jr. with their No. 8 pick. While Cousins struggled mid-season, Penix showed potential in his starts.

With stability at quarterback, general manager, and head coach positions, the Falcons aim to address other roster needs despite limited cap space—just under $4 million—and few draft picks available.

Fontenot expressed confidence in their collaborative approach: "Raheem sets that tone in the right way, and I'm excited about attacking this offseason with Raheem."

The Falcons narrowly missed playoff contention but had a chance to win the NFC South for the first time since 2016. Their proximity to success has heightened fan expectations for a return to past glories.

Fontenot stressed the importance of thorough offseason preparations: "It's our job to get right into this offseason process...to put us in position next year to win more football games."
