The Atlanta Falcons have undergone significant changes in the 2024 season, making various adjustments to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017. One of the most impactful decisions has been the deployment of linebacker Kaden Elliss.

Elliss joined the Falcons from the New Orleans Saints in 2023, following Ryan Nielsen's appointment as defensive coordinator. In his first season with Atlanta, Elliss started all 17 games and made a notable impact with 122 tackles, four sacks, six quarterback hits, and three passes defensed.

This season, Elliss has achieved career-high statistics with 140 tackles (81 solo), five sacks, and other key contributions including a forced fumble and an interception against Washington Commanders. His performance places him among a select group of players who have achieved similar stats in recent years.

Elliss' versatility has been a key asset for Atlanta's defense. He ranks highly among off-ball linebackers in quarterback pressures and pass rush snaps. The Falcons have effectively utilized him in their pass rush strategy through simulated pressures and creepers.

Since Week 13, Elliss has increased his production significantly, recording multiple sacks on four-man rushes. His contribution is part of a broader improvement in Atlanta's defensive performance post-bye week.

Defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake highlighted improvements in both run defense and pass rush as factors contributing to this turnaround. Since Week 13, opponents' yardage per game has decreased significantly compared to earlier in the season.

Atlanta's defense has also excelled at starting fast after their bye week, allowing fewer rushing yards early in games and increasing their sack totals substantially.

"Rush defense has been the best it's been," Lake stated recently, emphasizing that stopping the run was crucial for improving their pass rush effectiveness.

The Falcons lead the league with a high sack percentage since their bye week and have recorded multiple sacks across recent games. This resurgence positions them strongly as they aim for playoff success.
