Patients in Georgia with one of 17 qualifying conditions or those in end-stage hospice care may be eligible for a Low THC Oil card. Eligibility requires certification from a physician fully licensed by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. "Physician certification is the only legal way patients and their caregivers can access Low THC Oil in Georgia."

The law permits the legal possession of up to 20 fluid ounces of Low THC Oil for patients and caregivers listed in the Low THC Oil Registry with an active card status. However, it does not legalize the sale or possession of all types of marijuana in Georgia. Unauthorized possession of any form of marijuana remains a violation under state and federal law.

For more information about these changes or other inquiries regarding Low THC Oil cards, individuals are encouraged to visit https://dph.georgia.gov/low-thc-oil-registry. Information on medical cannabis dispensary locations is available on the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission website.
