BUFORD, Ga. — Falcons training camp introduced a unique atmosphere under the Saturday night lights at Seckinger High School, offering fans their first opportunity to see the team in action.

"It felt like a high school game day all over again," Falcons safety DeMarcco Hellams remarked.

While the previous day emphasized offensive plays with Kirk Cousins and his unit performing well, Saturday's session highlighted defensive prowess. The crowd erupted when inside linebacker Troy Andersen intercepted Cousins during a head-to-head between the first-team offense and defense. Despite claims from the offense that Cousins was ruled down by an official's whistle before making the pass, fans and defense celebrated Andersen’s play.

Cornerback Clark Phillips III also secured an interception in the second-team segment of practice by picking off Michael Penix Jr., drawing enthusiastic cheers from spectators.

The intimate setting allowed for closer interaction between players and fans. Running back Bijan Robinson took time to greet young fans on the sidelines, much to their excitement.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris expressed his enthusiasm about engaging with fans: "It's exciting to be around your fans because you want the test for the guys to really turn them out," he said. "But at the same time feel the presence, feel that energy that you love."

Notes and observations from Saturday’s practice included insights into various drills and player performances:

- Defensive line drills were closely observed due to the singular practice field setup at Seckinger High School. Notable was the variety in size among defensive tackles such as Grady Jarrett, Zach Harrison, Ruke Orhorhoro, Eddie Goldman, and David Onyemata.

- Quarterbacks demonstrated clear preferences in targets. Kirk Cousins frequently connected with Kyle Pitts on multiple routes resulting in four catches during 11-on-11 periods. Michael Penix Jr.'s favored target was Rondale Moore, including a notable touchdown during red zone work.

- Kaden Elliss’ usage in pass-rush roles was noted as promising for future alignments alongside the defensive line.

Statistical highlights included:

- Michael Penix Jr.: Completed 6-of-10 passes with one interception by Clark Phillips III while facing heavy pressure from the first-team defense.

- Kirk Cousins: Achieved 15-of-17 completions with one debatable interception by Troy Andersen. He connected successfully with eight different receivers including Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.

Falcons fans will have another chance to see their team on August 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as construction continues on upgrades at their facility limiting attendance there this year.
