ATLANTA – Today, Governor Brian Kemp signed several bills into law at Liberty Plaza in Atlanta, Ga. aimed at strengthening Georgia’s education system. Among those present were Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) and other legislators who supported the legislative initiatives.

Speaker Burns emphasized the importance of education by stating, “Education is not just a policy area; it’s the cornerstone of our state’s future.” He highlighted the comprehensive approach taken by the Georgia House to invest in various aspects of education, including fully funding public education, increasing teacher pay, enhancing school safety, and expanding Pre-K and career training opportunities.

Speaker Pro-Tempore Jan Jones praised the commitment of legislative colleagues in championing legislation to bolster Georgia’s education sector, stating, “I commend my legislative colleagues in the House and those across the hall for their unwavering commitment to champion legislation that will fortify Georgia’s education sector.”

State Representative Todd Jones, Chairman of the House Committee on Technology and Infrastructure Innovation, expressed pride in the legislative advancements, noting, “The collective dedication of my legislative colleagues in advancing these crucial measures this legislative session reflects our shared vision for a robust and inclusive educational landscape that empowers every student to excel and contribute meaningfully to Georgia’s future.”

The bills signed into law by Governor Kemp include House Bills 318, 409, and 1122, as well as Senate Bills 233, 351, 395, and 464. These legislative measures cover a wide range of areas within the education system, from charter school compliance and bus safety to scholarship programs and social media education initiatives.

Overall, the enactment of these bills reflects a concerted effort by Georgia lawmakers to enhance the state’s education system and provide students with the necessary resources and support to succeed academically.
