Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:
“We will never forget the 2,977 people whose lives were lost in the heinous attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Countless more lives were lost and forever changed in the days and years following 9/11. My heart is with the victims’ families as we all mourn on this solemn anniversary. We also remember the first responders and other workers who went well above and beyond their call of duty. The selfless service they displayed tending to anyone who needed care should be an inspiration to everyone.
“The American ideals of freedom and equality are stronger than evil and hatred. We should find strength in those ideals and recommit ourselves to the best aspects of our country.”
