As part of their "Good Neighbor, Giveback” campaign the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and State Farm have raised $116,500 to help local food banks.

State Farm Senior Vice President Dan Krause highlighted the campaign stating the organization is excited to partner with the Hawks to provide critical resources to fight food insecurity in and around Atlanta, according to an April 7 press release.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Hawks Foundation and State Farm’s Good Neighbor Giveback campaign,” Kyle Waide, president, and CEO of Atlanta Community Food Bank, said in the release. “As we continue to see an elevated need for food assistance in our communities, these funds will help us provide an additional 400,000 meals for those Georgians facing food insecurity in the metro Atlanta area.”

The campaign raised $100 for every point the Hawks scored over 100 in each game during the 2021-22 regular season, up to a total of $100,000, the release stated.

This comes as the two entities have made addressing local food insecurity across the city a major staple of their partnership since it began in 2018, according to the release. After reaching the maximum $100,000 during the March 22 game against New York, State Farm extended the campaign to run through the team’s game against Houston Sunday.

In addition to efforts to fight food insecurity locally, the Hawks and State Farm have also teamed up to open seven Good Neighbor Clubs in locations across Georgia, the release stated. Over the years, they have launched the “Million Meal Pack” initiative and staged 10 pop-up grocery stores for more than 6,000 families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
