Longtime Atlanta Hawks star Jeff Teague will rejoin the team as a scout.
Teague told the organization he has been all around the world watching basketball, giving him a good eye for who can play at a certain level, a recent news release on NBA.com said. During his second tenure with the team, he said he reached out to Hawks President Travis Schlenk and asked if he would be up to helping him obtain a job in the front office once he was finished playing.
"Yeah, I'm never going to retire," Teague said in the release.
Teague currently ranks fifth on Atlanta's all-time assists list (2,771), seventh in steals (632) and 11th in three-point field goals made (430), the release said. In April of last year, he signed as a free agent with Milwaukee and appeared in 21 regular-season and 16 playoff games. In his last season as an NBA player, the former point guard won a title with the Bucks.
Among his other accomplishments, he made nine consecutive playoff appearances with the Hawks, Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
This most recent shift marks Teague's third different stint with the Hawks.
