City of Atlanta issued the following announcement on Oct. 26.
In anticipation of Game 1 of the World Series between the Atlanta Braves and the Houston Astros, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner participated in a friendly virtual wager on Instagram Live.
Here’s what is on the line: if the Atlanta Braves are victorious, Mayor Turner will receive a Braves jersey, which he is expected to wear all-day, award-winning peach cobbler from the historic Paschal’s restaurant, a case of Mayor Bottoms’ favorite Cherry Coke Zero, beer from Best End Brewing Company located in the West End, and a hammer from Home Depot in honor of Atlanta’s home run hero Hammering “Hank” Aaron.
If the Houston Astros win, Mayor Bottoms will receive an Astros jersey, which she is expected to wear all-day, Brisket Fried Rice and Pork Ribs from Blood Brother’s BBQ, a case of “H-Town Pils” beer from St. Arnold’s Brewery, and good ole fashioned Tamales and lemonade from Irma’s Original.
Game 1 of the World Series takes place tonight at 8 p.m.
