Atlanta United has commenced its preseason training for 2025 under the guidance of new head coach Ronny Deila. The first open session allowed local media to observe the team's preparations, with a focus on fitness and implementing Deila's desired style of play.

Center back Derrick Williams shared that Deila aims for Atlanta to be "the fittest team in the league." The players are working towards fast, aggressive, and consistent gameplay. Winger Saba Lobjanidze and new signing Mateusz Klich have expressed their ambition to win both the MLS Cup and the league this season.

Saba emphasized the importance of running during preseason, while Klich described his playing style as high-pressing and aggressive. He stated, "I will create chances because that's what I do, and I will do everything I can to help the team to win matches."

Klich also spoke about his friendship with Williams, noting their previous collaboration in D.C., and expressed happiness at reuniting with him at Atlanta United. Williams praised Klich's forward-playing style during training sessions.

Goalkeeper Jayden Hibbert had an opportunity to train in place of Josh Cohen, who was absent due to illness. Hibbert previously played for Atlanta United 2 in MLS NEXT Pro.

The session also featured Decatur natives Ashton Gordon and Will Reilly showcasing their skills on the field. Two players were missing from training: Bartosz Slisz and Stian Gregersen, who are expected to arrive soon from Europe.

Klich's addition marks two Polish nationals on Atlanta's roster alongside Slisz. Despite never having played together before, Klich expressed eagerness to partner with Slisz on the field.

New forward Cayman Togashi made an impression by scoring twice during small-sided games. His arrival makes him Atlanta United's first Japanese player.

Veteran goalkeeper Brad Guzan continues to lead with authority as he enters his ninth season with the club. Meanwhile, striker Jamal Thiaré demonstrated his finishing skills during larger games that concluded training.

Mateusz Klich highlighted Atlanta's facilities: "It's great... I've played in good stadiums, but this one is unreal." He assured fans of an exciting season ahead: "You can expect us to be an aggressive, high-pressing team... We want to keep the ball when we have possession."
