Fall baseball at Georgia Tech will begin Oct. 16, according to a news release.
The Yellow Jackets, two-time defending ACC Coastal Champions, will host Troy University in an exhibition game at 1 p.m. at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium, according to the news release. On Oct. 23, the Jackets play a second exhibition game against University of Alabama Birmingham at noon.
Admission is free.
"This fall will be Tech fans’ first chance to see the 2022 Yellow Jackets prior to the spring schedule," the news release said.
Many of Tech's players are returning this year from last year's division-winning team, including six of nine starters in the field and "a stable of arms on the pitching staff," the news release said.
"This fall will also see the emergence of several young Yellow Jackets from Georgia Tech’s third-straight top 25 recruiting class that look to bolster an already deeply talented roster," it said.
Mac Nease Baseball Park is named for an alumnus who helped fund the renovation of the baseball facilities, Tech said in a news release. Nease, a 1965 graduate, lettered in baseball at Tech. He and his wife, Brenda, funded a "significant" portion of the $13.5 million spent on renovating Tech's baseball facilities, the release said.
