Despite the pandemic, Georgia State College of Law graduates again have earned the overall highest bar passage rate for the February 2021 exam, a press release from Georgia State University (GSU) said.
The February 2021 exam was the second time in the school's history that the exam was administered online to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the students. The College of Law's passage rate was 81.8% for first-time test takers and 77.6% for overall test-takers, GSU said.
“We strive to ensure that our students have the support and training they need to pass the bar regardless of the circumstances. To be able to perform so well given all of the challenges our students have faced over the past year is something to truly be proud of,” interim Dean Leslie Wolf said, GSU reported.
Wolf said while prepping for the bar exam is difficult enough, the pandemic and online test added another level of stress for students.
A virtual swearing-in ceremony for the new lawyers was held on June 11. The ceremony was held by Honorable Belinda Edwards of the Fulton County Superior Court Judge Belinda Edwards, a 1990 graduate of the college, GSU said.
