The Atlanta Falcons are considering drafting a defensive player in the first round for the first time in nearly five years. The organization aims to strengthen its defense following the departure of key players like Grady Jarrett. One potential strategy is focusing on improving their pass rush through the 2025 NFL Draft. Since drafting Takk McKinley in 2017, the Falcons have consistently added to their defensive line, but an impactful edge rusher remains a top priority.

Among the prospects, Mike Green of Marshall is a strong candidate. Green led all FBS players with 17.5 sacks last season. He is known for his effective performance in agility tests and his energetic playing style. However, allegations of sexual assault have surfaced, which Green has denied, and these may influence his draft position. The Falcons prioritize high-character players, making this a significant consideration.

Mykel Williams of Georgia is another option. Despite an ankle injury limiting his final college season, his size and potential to develop as a pass rusher are promising. Williams' strength as a run defender makes him an attractive choice for the Falcons.

On Day 2, Landon Jackson from Arkansas stands out due to his towering stature and persistent play style. Bradyn Swinson from LSU is also noteworthy after improving significantly in his final college season. His aggressive approach provides both opportunities and challenges.

Day 3 prospects include Oluwafemi Oladejo from UCLA, who transitioned from linebacker to edge and showed raw but promising skills. Fadil Diggs from Syracuse offers leadership qualities and an ability to make impactful plays, although he requires further development.
