The clash between Atlanta United and New York City FC marks the beginning of a crucial three-match homestand for the hosts at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Under the guidance of head coach Ronny Deila, who previously led New York City FC to their first MLS Cup title, Atlanta United is eager to assert their dominance at home.

Two players, Emmanuel Latte Lath and Brooks Lennon, will be pivotal as the team seeks victory. Latte Lath, whose fourth goal of the season has catapulted him into the upper ranks of the Golden Boot standings, is building on a strong start in his debut season. Lennon, already tied for most assists in the club's history, requires one more assist to claim the record outright.

The starting lineup for Atlanta includes Brad Guzan, Brooks Lennon, Stian Gregersen, Derrick Williams, Pedro Amador, Bartosz Slisz, Mateusz Klich, Alexey Miranchuk, Miguel Almirón, Saba Lobjanidze, and Emmanuel Latte Lath. Yet, Pedro Amador will not start as expected, with Dominik Chong Qui taking his place for his first MLS start. Among the notable changes, Bartosz Slisz celebrates his birthday and Mateusz Klich returns to the starting XI following health issues.

Atlanta's reserve players are ready to step in, with Cayman Togashi being one to watch. Fresh off earning his first goal contribution for the team, he is on the brink of a personal milestone with his next goal being the 50th of his career.

The history between Atlanta United and New York City FC has seen the latter edging out in previous encounters. However, Atlanta's focus remains on capitalizing on their home advantage in this and the subsequent matches against FC Dallas and New England Revolution.

Atlanta hopes to leverage their all-time record at home to reverse their fortunes against New York City FC, whom they have defeated three times in the past at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
