Governor Brian P. Kemp and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) have announced that Georgia has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $53.1 billion in exports, marking a 6.4% increase over the previous year. This growth rate is notably higher than the national average of 2.3%. Additionally, Georgia has moved up to sixth place in the United States for trade value, facilitating over $198.7 billion in trade with 222 countries and territories.

Governor Kemp highlighted the role of small businesses in this achievement: "With more than 87% of Georgia exporters being small businesses, these record-breaking numbers represent economic opportunity and success in every corner of the state." He added that Georgia's strategic investments and collaboration with job creators are yielding positive results for its residents.

In 2024, Georgia exported goods to 219 destinations while maintaining its No. 12 ranking nationally for export value. The state's top exports included civilian aircraft and parts, motor vehicles, computers, telephone sets, and medical devices.

Pat Wilson, GDEcD Commissioner, emphasized Georgia's strong industry base: "Georgia’s diverse industry base and connectivity to more than 200 global markets create a more resilient state economy." He credited extensive partnerships and infrastructure as key factors enabling businesses to succeed globally.

Georgia's international trade efforts are supported by representatives in crucial markets worldwide who connect local exporters with global customers. These markets accounted for a significant portion of exports and bilateral trade last year.

Deputy Commissioner of Trade Lizann Grupalo noted the importance of these partnerships: "A fourth consecutive year of record-breaking exports is an incredible accomplishment that requires strong partnerships at all levels." She acknowledged international representatives as vital links providing insights into global markets.

The state's infrastructure plays a crucial role in its trade success. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is recognized as the world's busiest airport; the Port of Savannah ranks as one of America's fastest-growing container gateways; and Brunswick hosts one of the busiest Roll-on/Roll-off cargo ports nationwide. Furthermore, Georgia boasts an extensive rail network unmatched by any other Southeastern state.
