The Atlanta Falcons are already assessing their 2024 roster and planning for the 2025 season. Head Coach Raheem Morris announced that the team has started its evaluations, focusing on current players before moving on to unrestricted free agents (UFAs) and college drafts. "You start with your team first," Morris stated, highlighting the comprehensive nature of this process.

The NFL's free-agent negotiation period begins on March 10, with signings allowed from March 12. Over the Cap provides a list of impending Falcons free agents categorized by NFL.com standards: Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA), Restricted Free Agents (RFA), and Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFA).

Unrestricted free agents include players with four or more accrued seasons whose contracts have expired, allowing them to negotiate with any team. Restricted free agents have three accrued seasons and can negotiate freely but may be subject to qualifying offers from their original teams. Exclusive rights free agents have fewer than three accrued seasons and must accept a one-year contract at league minimum if offered by their original team.

Some Falcons players shared their thoughts on potentially staying in Atlanta. Safety Justin Simmons expressed his appreciation for the city and noted positive trends within the organization. Simmons joined the Falcons in August 2024 after an impressive tenure with the Denver Broncos, recording two interceptions, seven pass breakups, and 62 tackles in his debut season with Atlanta.

Safety Richie Grant also expressed his fondness for Atlanta as his first NFL home but left future decisions to fate. Grant played primarily as a backup in 2024 following Simmons' arrival but still contributed significantly on special teams.

Center Drew Dalman chose not to discuss his future plans publicly but reflected positively on his time with the Falcons since being drafted in 2021. Despite missing eight games due to injury in 2024, Dalman performed well when available, maintaining high performance metrics according to Next Gen Stats.
