Drake London, a third-year wide receiver, achieved a significant career milestone by reaching 1,000 receiving yards in a single season for the first time. This achievement occurred during Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders.
In the second quarter of the game, London caught a 14-yard pass from quarterback Michael Penix Jr., which allowed him to surpass the 1,000-yard mark. Prior to this game, London required just 22 more yards to reach this total. The milestone was reached with his second reception of the night.
Previously, London had come close to this accomplishment in his second year but concluded the 2023 season with 905 yards. In his rookie season, he accumulated 866 yards. At the start of Week 17, only 11 wide receivers had managed to achieve triple-digit receiving yards, with London ranked at No. 17 among wideouts as he began the game with 978 yards.
Throughout this season leading up to his latest achievement, London has recorded five games where he gained at least 70 receiving yards. His most impressive performance came in Atlanta's Week 5 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he achieved a career-high of 154 yards.
This breakthrough is part of what has been described as a breakout year for London. He has already set personal records with seven touchdowns and received 119 targets before facing the Commanders. Reflecting on his progress and aspirations, London often envisions his goals; reaching this milestone was one such goal for him in his third season.
