Atlanta United signs young defender Dominik Chong Qui through to future seasons

Atlanta United 2 has announced the signing of Academy defender Dominik Chong Qui for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. Chong Qui will join the First Team as a Homegrown player on an MLS contract starting January 1, 2026, continuing through the 2028 MLS season, with an option for 2029.

"Dominik is a very talented player who has progressed through our development pathway at an excellent rate," stated Director of Methodology Javier Perez. "Dominik showcased his skills on both ends of the pitch this past year with Atlanta United 2 and we look forward to his continued development and success with the club during his first full season as a professional next year."

At just 16 years old, Chong Qui played in 17 matches, starting in 12 of them, and accumulated a total of 1,128 minutes for ATL UTD 2 this past season. He made his professional debut against Orlando City B on June 30 and concluded the year with two goals. His performance earned him the title of MLS NEXT Player of Matchweek 18. Chong Qui joined Atlanta United’s Academy in 2022 and was part of the U-16 team that won the MLS NEXT Cup Championship in 2023. Internationally, he is eligible to represent the United States and participated in a domestic camp with the U.S. U-17 squad in September 2023.

Chong Qui was born on December 29, 2007, in Alpharetta, Georgia. He holds American citizenship.

Transaction details confirm that Atlanta United 2 has signed Dominik Chong Qui through the upcoming season before he transitions to become an Atlanta United Homegrown player at the start of January 2026.
