The Atlanta Falcons have announced Grady Jarrett as their nominee for the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. This marks Jarrett's second nomination, with his first in 2019.

Jarrett, who grew up in Conyers, Georgia, has been a part of the Falcons since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination recognizes individuals for excellence on the field and dedication to community efforts. Jarrett has exemplified these qualities throughout his career.

On the field, Jarrett is recognized as a key player in the Falcons' defense and became the franchise leader in quarterback hits during Week 1 of the 2024 season. "You always felt like he was the heart and soul," said head coach Raheem Morris about Jarrett's impact on both the team and city.

Off the field, Jarrett has made significant contributions to his community through his foundation, Grady Gives. In June, he donated $70,000 in scholarships to support students from underprivileged backgrounds. His "Big Men Don't Bully" campaign includes educational workshops aimed at developing anti-bullying strategies within schools.

Jarrett also raised over $150,000 during his annual "Grady Gives Weekend," which included a fundraiser at TopGolf and a free football camp for local kids. Additionally, he partnered with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Rally Foundation to support pediatric cancer patients through events like "Rally on the Runway."

Arthur Blank, owner of the Falcons, praised Jarrett: "There's probably nobody on the team that works harder than him...not just on the field but off it too."

Each year, 32 players are nominated for this award from across NFL teams. Fans can vote for their favorite nominee online. The winner will receive a $250,000 donation to their chosen charity while all nominees receive up to $55,000 courtesy of NFL Foundation and Nationwide.

The award winner will be announced live at NFL Honors in early February.
