Atlanta United is gearing up for its 11th annual Boxing Day scarf exchange, an event that combines community spirit with soccer enthusiasm. Participants are invited to bring a gently used scarf to one of the team's pub partners in exchange for a new 2024 Atlanta United Boxing Day scarf, available while supplies last. The event will also feature food and drinks as guests watch Premier League Boxing Day matches.
The Brewhouse Café will open early to accommodate fans eager to catch the games. All scarves collected during the exchange will be donated to the United Way of Atlanta.
Boxing Day, traditionally celebrated in the United Kingdom on December 26, originated as a religious holiday focused on charitable giving. It has evolved into a day filled with soccer matches, akin to watching American football on Thanksgiving in the U.S., but with more games and infused with the U.K.'s soccer culture.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, December 26th, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. until noon or until all scarves are distributed. It will take place at Brewhouse Café located at 401 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307.
