Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced several judicial appointments, filling vacancies across various courts in Georgia. Ralph W. Ralph W. Powell brings over three decades of legal experience to his new role, having served as State Court Judge of Worth County and Municipal Court Judge for Poulan and Warwick cities. He also practices law at Wilmot & Powell, LLC, focusing on real estate and estate planning.
Amy E. Smith steps into her new position with extensive prosecutorial experience, previously serving as Solicitor General of Houston County since her appointment by Governor Nathan Deal in 2011. Her career includes handling a wide range of cases from serious felonies to traffic violations.
Sarah Stimac Japour transitions from her role as Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit to become District Attorney for West Georgia Judicial Circuit. She has dedicated two decades to prosecuting complex criminal cases and advocating for victims' rights.
Vasco “Terry” McRae moves to Rockdale State Court after serving as an assistant solicitor general in Gwinnett County and having a distinguished military career in the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
