The Atlanta Falcons have announced that outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter is set to return from injured reserve. Carter was placed on the list on October 19 after entering the league's concussion protocol following a victory against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. Prior to his injury, Carter was a consistent presence in Atlanta's starting lineup.
During Carter's absence, the Falcons relied on Arnold Ebiketie and Demone Harris to fill his role. Ebiketie has made an impact with increased playing time, leading Atlanta's defensive line and edge players with an 8.7% pressure rate.
Carter's return is expected to address depth concerns following injuries to defensive linemen Ta'Quon Graham and James Smith-Williams in Week 10. Before his injury, Carter recorded 15 tackles, nine stops, and two quarterback pressures this season. Over his seven-year career, he has accumulated 21.5 sacks but has yet to record one this season.
Additionally, the Falcons have made changes to their practice squad by signing wide receiver and kick returner Jakeem Grant while releasing linebacker Tyreek Maddox-Williams. Grant had previously been with the team during training camp.
