After listing safety Justin Simmons as doubtful, the Atlanta Falcons have ruled him out for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The decision was made 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

Simmons has been dealing with a hamstring injury for several weeks. Richie Grant is expected to start in his place alongside Jessie Bates III at safety. Grant has started 32 games for the Falcons since being drafted in 2021.

Inside linebacker Troy Andersen had already been declared out due to a knee injury. This will be the fourth game he misses because of this issue.

Ryan Neuzil's status was also clarified via the inactives list. Neuzil, who has been starting in place of Drew Dalman since Dalman went on injured reserve with an ankle injury, was questionable due to a knee problem but is available to play. If Neuzil starts against the Buccaneers, Matt Hennessy will serve as his backup.

The full list of inactive players for Week 8 includes:

- RB Jase McClellan

- S Justin Simmons

- ILB Troy Andersen

- DL Brandon Dorlus

- OL Elijah Wilkinson

- T Brandon Parker

- DL Kentavius Street
