The Atlanta Falcons are preparing for a pivotal Week 8 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, aiming to secure a winning record at this stage of the season for the first time since 2017. This potential milestone could be significant, as Atlanta has historically reached the playoffs six out of eight times when holding a winning record through the first eight weeks since 2010.

A key factor in their recent success is their ability to maintain a three-game winning streak during an important early-season divisional stretch. The team has shown offensive improvement over the past few games, with quarterback Kirk Cousins and his skill-position players finding form.

Tight end Kyle Pitts has been instrumental in this resurgence. After struggling with injuries and inconsistency following his standout rookie season, Pitts is regaining momentum. In Week 5 against Tampa Bay, he was targeted eight times, catching seven passes for 88 yards. Since then, Pitts has maintained strong performance metrics, including a reception percentage of 77.3% and improved yards per route run.

Cousins attributes some of Pitts' success to his adaptation to new offensive strategies under coordinator Zac Robinson. "The last couple years, he's told me of not being in 11 personnel as often," Cousins said. "He's done a nice job kind of finding that fit."

Atlanta's shift to using more 11 personnel formations has benefited Pitts and other key players like wide receiver Drake London. London is having a breakout season with career-high statistics in receptions and touchdowns. Head coach Raheem Morris praised London's development: "Watching him evolve into an inside-outside player has been a lot of fun."

London's versatility is evident as he plays both from the slot and outside positions effectively. His ability to make critical catches on second, third, and fourth downs highlights his importance to the team's offense.

As Atlanta prepares for another division contest against Tampa Bay on Sunday, both Pitts and London are expected to play crucial roles in maintaining their team's upward trajectory.
