Atlanta United is progressing through its preseason training, preparing for the upcoming Major League Soccer (MLS) season. The team recently returned to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground after a friendly match against Chattanooga FC. Head coach Ronny Deila is evaluating player performances and strategizing for the remaining preseason games.

Midfielder Bartosz Slisz and forward Cayman Togashi spoke to the media about their experiences three weeks into the preseason. Togashi, who recently joined from Japan, expressed his excitement about playing in front of passionate fans in Atlanta. "When I watch the games, I felt the passion in the fans, and I want to experience that myself in the games," he said through a translator.

The team's new Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson has been active in enhancing the roster. Togashi's addition provides more options for Deila's coaching staff. Mateusz Klich, acquired from D.C. United, is already making an impact with his experience and skills in midfield play.

Slisz noted Klich's presence positively: "I’m happy with Klich here, and he’s a nice guy," adding optimism about his contribution on the field.

Deila is focusing on integrating new players while maintaining effective strategies. His training sessions emphasize decision-making and spatial awareness during scrimmages. Slisz mentioned that both players and Deila are adapting to each other: "He’s also learning us right now, seeing how we work."

Togashi finds Deila's system similar to what he experienced in Japan, allowing him to focus on teamwork while showcasing his personal style: "I think it’s important every session to show my personality and character."

Reflecting on their recent game against Chattanooga FC, where they conceded two late goals after leading early, Slisz emphasized learning from such matches but moving forward quickly: "It’s good video to analyze...we have to think forward."

Both Togashi and Slisz highlighted the intensity of training sessions aimed at achieving peak fitness levels for MLS competition. Slisz remarked on noticeable improvements compared to last season: "Everything is in front of us...I see a lot of difference compared to last season."

Atlanta United will face Birmingham Legion next in a friendly match scheduled for February 1 at Protective Stadium.
