The Falcons and Saints are set to face off in an NFC South showdown this Sunday. The Saints, with a 2-1 record, will travel to Atlanta to play the 1-2 Falcons. Despite the records, rivalry games often defy expectations.

Injury updates reveal that the Falcons will be without two starting offensive linemen. Drew Dalman is on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, and Kaleb McGary has been ruled out with a knee injury. Running back Bijan Robinson and linebacker Matthew Judon were limited earlier in the week but are expected to play.

The Saints have their own injury concerns. Alvin Kamara, Demario Davis, Cesar Ruiz, and A.T. Perry missed practices at various points this week. Davis, Ruiz, and Perry have been ruled out for Sunday's game. Kamara and Chris Olave are listed as questionable.

Both teams' inactive lists will be released 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.

The Saints' offense has scored over 100 points in three games this season, second only to the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, the Falcons' defense has excelled at limiting explosive plays, allowing just five plays of 20 yards or more so far.

Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins emphasized the need for improvement on first and second downs as well as in red-zone situations: "(We're) trying to be really effective in our third-down red zone offense," Cousins said.

Defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake echoed similar sentiments: "We've got to be better on first and second down," he explained.

Both teams also face challenges with their starting centers on injured reserve. Ryan Neuzil will start for the Falcons while Lucas Patrick takes over for Erik McCoy of the Saints.

Jessie Bates III and Justin Simmons have contributed significantly to the Falcons' secondary by limiting deep passes from opposing quarterbacks this season. This trend may continue against Derek Carr and the Saints.

Grady Jarrett could play a crucial role given both teams’ offensive line issues. His performance might influence both run support against Alvin Kamara and pressure on Carr.

This game appears likely to hinge on which team can control the trenches effectively.
