The summer transfer window has ushered in Atlanta United's latest signing, Pedro Amador. The 25-year-old fullback from Portugal recently made his club debut as a second-half substitute during Atlanta's Leagues Cup match against D.C. United on July 26.
In an effort to introduce him to the fans, Amador answered 17 questions (and one extra) to help supporters get to know him better.
When asked why he chose Atlanta United, Amador stated, "I signed with Atlanta because they showed a lot of interest in me. Also, because I like the league. I think there’s a lot of quality in the league and it will help me to grow as a player. So, I’m very happy and here to contribute and to grow."
Describing his playing style, he said, "I’m an intelligent player. I can play good passes. Someone who likes to play with my teammates, and I think I’m a fast player."
Amador characterized himself with three qualities: "Humble, fun and a good friend." He also mentioned that his wife is currently joining him in Atlanta while his parents are excited to visit from Portugal.
He shared that he has always been called by his last name, "Amador," and expressed deep affection for his home country: "For me, it just means home in all extents of the word. I have all my family there. Every time I’m there, I enjoy it. It just means home to me."
Reflecting on his earliest soccer memory, Amador recounted playing with his grandpa at six or seven years old: "I’m left-footed, but my grandpa would make me play with my right foot so it was even between him and me... But nowadays, I’m very thankful because it helped me a lot. Now, I’m good with both feet."
On road trips, he always brings a chain gifted by his grandpa featuring a saint. As for pre-match rituals, he relies on music to relax.
His favorite music genre is reggaeton. Besides soccer, he follows Formula One closely and watches NBA games when possible.
The best advice he's received comes from his parents: "Regardless if a situation is good or bad... you have to keep working and be ready and prepared because life and fútbol turn around very quickly."
Amador enjoys baccalà on the grill from back home and prefers vacation spots with nice beaches where he can relax.
He plays video games occasionally, mostly Call of Duty.
Regarding what inspires him on the pitch: "I keep reminding myself that yes, I work in fútbol... It’s my passion... That’s what motivates me the most."
A proud moment in his career was signing his first professional contract: "I was playing in a lower division, and to take that leap was amazing for me."
Finally, Amador wants fans to know about his commitment: "Something I will always give is my best effort... My idea is that if we get three points then they get joy and happiness."
