Georgia Power taps Trey Kilpatrick from Kemp administration as Senior VP of External Affairs

Trey Kilpatrick, currently Chief of Staff for Governor Brian Kemp, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Georgia Power, starting January 15, 2024. Georgia Power, in a press release, believes that his background in government roles and focus on Georgia's development equips him to lead the company's strategies in economic growth and legislative engagement. This move comes as part of Georgia Power's efforts to strengthen its corporate leadership team and advance its strategic initiatives.

Delving into Kilpatrick's career history offers an understanding of his readiness for this new role. According to a press release by Georgia Power, presently, as the Chief of Staff in Governor Brian Kemp's Office, Kilpatrick actively engages in state governance where he interacts with community, civic, and business leaders across Georgia. His journey with Governor Kemp commenced in 2020 following a decade-long tenure serving Georgians in roles within the office of U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson including deputy chief of staff, senior advisor, political director, state director and campaign manager. Prior to his involvement with Isakson, Kilpatrick held a vice president position at Morgan Keegan & Co., Inc., an Atlanta-based investment firm.

It is noteworthy to understand what current leadership within Georgia Power thinks about this new appointment. Alongside Kilpatrick's appointment, other leadership changes are also taking place at Georgia Power. According to a press release by Georgia Power, Kilpatrick is set to take over from Meredith Lackey, who will take over a new role of Chief Compliance Officer at Southern Company.
