The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, titled "Police State," will be shown at an Atlanta movie theater on October 23 and October 25. The film examines the rise of what D’Souza refers to as the "police state" in the United States.
D’Souza expressed surprise at the need to make a movie like "Police State" in an interview with ATLStandard.com, stating, "I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie." He believes that the country has rapidly embraced a police state mentality on multiple levels.
The film delves into the origins of this activity, starting with the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the introduction of the controversial "Patriot Act." It also explores more recent instances, such as the COVID-19 lockdowns, social media censorship, the prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings, and the surveillance and detention of individuals who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
In addition to D’Souza himself, "Police State" features actor Nick Searcy and interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.
The film's trailer has already garnered 74 million views on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) as of the time of publication.
The Atlanta showing of "Police State" will take place at AMC Phipps Plaza 14, located at 3500 Peachtree Rd NE. There will be two screenings each day at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on October 23 and October 25. The movie's website also lists additional viewings in Athens, Columbus, Kennesaw, and other communities.
