Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan is still mourning the loss of his mother, whom Duncan recently announced passed away in a post to Twitter.

"I’m sad, I’m heartbroken, but I’m grateful God made her my mom," he posted. "Love you mom."

Soon after Duncan’s emotional-filled post, condolences and well wishes began tom pour in over the woman Duncan characterized as his best friend growing up and someone who never left his side.

First elected Lt. Governor in November 2018, Duncan recently announced he would not be seeking reelection after serving just one term. At the same time, Fox5Atlanta reports he has vowed to remain active in politics and to creating “better days ahead for our conservative party” all over the country.

"It always feels coldest right before the sun rises," Duncan added. "I believe that is the exact moment in time the Republican Party is caught in right now, and I am committed to being a part of creating those better days ahead for our conservative party all across this country."

Duncan recently published “GOP 2.0: How the 2020 Election Can Lead to a Better Way Forward for America's Conservative Party,” which he bills as his take on what went wrong with his party and former President Donald Trump in the aftermath of the still contentious 2020 election.

While not mentioning Trump by name, Duncan’s new tome is being sold as a full-proof plan that lays out concrete ways for the GOP to appeal to a greater number of voters in upcoming national elections.
