Football recruit EJ Lightsey, who was recently recruited to play for the Georgia Bulldogs, suffered several gunshot wounds in his hometown, Fitzgerald.
Lightsey was shot in his back and shoulder before being transported to a hospital in Albany for treatment, UGASports reported. Lightsey's injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.
"Prayers to EJ Lightsey and his family," DawgNation said on Twitter.
Two men, 23-year-old Jiquavious Wilcox and 42-year-old Andre Pierce, were arrested on multiple charges, but the case remains under investigation, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Another man, Maurice Robinson, was shot and fatally wounded in the same incident, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Lightsey is set to enroll at the University of Georgia this summer, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. He helped bring the Fitzgerald High School football team to a state championship last year.
At 6-foot-2-inches and 210 pounds, Lightsey was among three linebackers signed to the 2022 class by the defending NCAA champions, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
