The Atlanta Falcons have signed fan favorite and Pro Bowl kicker Younghoe Koo for another five years.
Koo, who joined the team in 2019, was going to be a restricted free agent during this offseason until his contract was extended, the Falcons said on their site.
"Koo is true for FIVE MORE YEARS," the team said on Twitter.
This is Koo's first long-term deal, having only signed one-year deals as of 2019, the Falcons said.
Since joining the team, Koo has made 13 out his 14 50-yard-minimum field goal attempts, the Falcons said. He made a total of 27 successful field goals out of 29 attempts total during the 2021 season. This puts him at third in the NFL with respect to field goal percentage. A few of those kicks won games for the Falcons, such as against the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and New Orleans Saints.
His 2020 season was impressive as well, making 32 of 33 field goals and scoring 23 extra points, with 119 points total, the Falcons said.
