Georgia Tech star running back Jahmyr Gibbs earned a high honor for his performance on the field.

The Athletic's named the Tech running back to its second-team all-America Dec. 8 and the Associated Press listed him in a similar grouping for its all-America on Dec. 13. for his performance

The second-year running back led Tech with 746 rushing yards and ranked second in receiving with 470 yards to go along with 589 kickoff-return yards to become the first player since 2015 with 700 rushing yards, 450 receiving yards and 550 kickoff yards in a season.

"Gibbs is the first Tech running back to earn all-America recognition for any role since Robert Lavette was named third-team all-America by Football News in 1984," Georgia Tech said in a Dec. 13 statement.

Gibbs's 1,805 total all-purpose yards were good for second in Georgia Tech single-season history.

Gibbs is the first Yellow Jacket running back to be named as high as a second-team all-American since Eddie Lee Ivery in 1978 (second-team AP and UPI). Ever since Robert Lavette was named third-team all-America by Football News in 1984, Gibbs would be the first Tech to get back the all-America recognition for any role.
